Obituary of Violet M. Rice

Mrs. Violet M. ”Vi” Rice, 79, formerly of Central Towers, Titusville died at 2:13 AM on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Golden LivingCenter. She had been a resident there since 2007. Mrs. Rice was born on March 3, 1931 in Oil City to the late Minnie Roberts (Watkins). She attended schools in the Oil City area. Mrs. Rice was a former member of the First Assembly of God. She is survived by her son, Warren Bernhardt and wife Judy of Titusville; a daughter, Minnie Shields of Meadville; two granddaughters, Tammie Bernhardt of Lehigh, Florida and Sherrie Bernhardt and her fiancé Ken Klinger of Franklin; and three great grandchildren, Raymond Tucker, Brittany Tucker and Ryan Tucker. Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. Rice whom she married on Dec. 31, 1955, in Titusville. Mr. Rice died on Jan. 20, 1991; and her step-father, Wilbert Bernhardt. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM with the funeral service to follow conducted by Rev. Mark Rusnak, Chaplain of the Asera Care Hospice.
