Obituary of Harley M. "Ben" Murphy, Jr.

Mr. Harley M. “Ben” Murphy, Jr., 89, of Townville, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his home.

               He was born in Pleasantville on August 23, 1928 to the late Harley M. and Verna Wright Murphy.

               Ben married Arlene Kinney on January 3, 1949 in Townville.

               He was a foreman at National Forge in Erie, where he retired from.

               Ben enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and working in the yard, porch sitting, and his cats.

               He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Arlene Murphy of Townville; four children, Sandra Vroman of Titusville, Joanne Hunt and husband John of Townville, Harley M. “Mike” Murphy, III and wife Linda of Titusville, and Brian Murphy and Roseanne of Townville; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Sylvia Flanagan and husband Joseph of Sebring, FL, Flora Harvey of Hydetown, and Verna Nefstead of Centerville; two brothers, Fred Murphy of Centerville, and Timothy Murphy of Titusville; and a half sister, Lucille of California.

               Ben was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, two brothers, William and James Murphy; a granddaughter, Tracey Hunt Frederick; and a son in law, Rexford Vroman.

               Friends and family can attend a celebration of life at the Titusville Cleo J. Ross American Legion Post 368, 113 E. Central Ave., Titusville, PA 16354, on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM.

               Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
