Obituary of William Tisi
Mr. William “Billy” Tisi, 76, of E. Main St., Titusville passed away at 9:21 PM on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Titusville Area Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side.
Mr. Tisi was born on April 15, 1939, in Cleveland, OH, to the late William Sr., and Ann Chesnes Tisi. He married Constance “C.J.” Snyder on March 19, 1983.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Cleveland, OH and obtained his Associates Degree in Accounting from Penn State Behrend in Erie.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in England as a finance officer and armed forces radio broadcaster for Europe and the United States. He served his country for 8 years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Tisi was formerly employed by the Titusville office of Skat’s United Refining of Warren. He was employed by them for 20 years and retired at the local office as Vice President of Finance. He then bought the Col. Drake Hotel in the late 1980’s and maintained the hotel, the restaurant’s and was D.J. until the closing in 1998.
He was a member of the Catholic Community of Titusville and enjoyed attending mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Mageetown. He was a life member of the B.P.O Elks #264, the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Bill was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan having grownup 2 blocks from the stadium. He was a World War II and Kentucky Derby history buff. Growing up he helped his father with horses at Thistle Down which encourage him to ride, train, and own his own horses. He attended the Kentucky Derby as often as possible. In 1995, he obtained his private pilot’s license, became a member of the Titusville Aero Club where he served as secretary for the club. He was most proud to have been able to take his father up for a ride. Some of his most memorable years were living at Canadohta Lake with CJ and spending time on their boat. Bill also enjoyed golfing and making drinks for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, CJ Tisi of Titusville; 4 children, Carolyn (Tisi) Behen and husband David of Conroe, TX, Mark Tisi and wife Donna of New Palestine, IN, Carla (Tisi) Foley and fiancé Rick Neely of Titusville, Cristen (Tisi) Brown and husband Jeff of Nicholasville, KY; 3 grandchildren, Michael Behen and wife Sarah, Alana Behen and fiancé Ray, MacKenzie Grace Foley; and a sister, Barbara Tisi of Mentor, OH.
Bill was preceded in death by a son, Paul Tisi.
Friends may join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday December 1st at 11:00 AM from St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard of the Catholic Community of Titusville, as celebrant.
