Obituary of Helen L. Dean
Helen L. Dean, 85, formerly of Pleasantville, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in Erie at UPMC Hamot.
Helen was born in Oil City on August 24, 1930 to the late Henry and Audine Biltz Firster.
She married Paul E. “Chet” Dean on May 1, 1959 in Mercer, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1998.
Helen worked at GTE Sylvania for over ten years.
She was a member of the Shamburg Christian Church.
Helen was also a member of the East Erie Moose Family Center #593, a life member and past president of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 Ladies Auxiliary, and of the Pleasantville Lioness Club.
She enjoyed crochet, doing puzzles, cooking and baking, watching WWE wrestling, John Cena being her favorite, and going to NASCAR races to watch Dale Earhart, Jr.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Lavonne Boyles of Erie; two sons, Daniel Hanes and wife Susanne of Titusville, and Jack Hanes and wife Shirley of Cochranton; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a special nephew, Larry Hanes of Harbor Creek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Janice Hanes; and brother, Robert Firster.
Friends and family may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home, 203 East Main Street, Titusville, PA 16354, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Hal Morgan, of the First Community Church of God, officiating.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
