Obituary of Virginia Mae Beck
Mrs. Virginia Mae “Ginny” Beck, 70, of 15852 Pleasant Valley Drive Pleasantville, died unexpectedly Saturday, November 20, 2010 at her residence.
Ginny was born on April 8, 1940 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Ivan and Dorothy Redmond Caryl. She was married to James L. Beck on Nov. 14, 1969 in Titusville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2003.
Ginny was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School, class of 1958.
She was co-owner with her husband of J.L. Beck Drilling in Pleasantville. She was co-owner of the former Village Diner in Pleasantville with Ron and Mary Ann Brown. She had also worked at the Unemployement Office in Oil City.
Ginny was a member of the Titusville Free Methodist Church where she was involved in may church activities and committees. She was also a former member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Hydetown TOPS. She was an avid and competitive card and game player. She enjoyed spending time with with her friends and family.
Ginny is survived by the following children; Ronald Beck and his wife Stephanie of Pleasantville, David Beck of Pleasantville, Steve Beck and his wife Sue of Titusville, and Cinda Roebuck of Indiana, PA; two granddaughters, Stephanie Sliker and her husband Dan of Tionesta and Jackie Lane and her husband Jason of Townville; four great grandchildren, Dane and Dean Sliker, and Jocelynn and Jerad Lane; a brother, Carey Caryl and wife Carol of Pleasantville; two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Carroll of Dade City, FLA and Shirley Pierce of Tennessee; an aunt, Jean Beck of Pleasantville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Colyn Carroll.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon to 1:00 PM at the Titusville Free Methodist Church. The funeral service will be conducted there at 1:00 PM Wednesday with Rev. Timothy Maybray, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery in Pleasantville.
