Obituary of Ruby P. Staples
Mrs. Ruby P. Staples, 96, formerly a resident of Titusville and Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneautville where she became a resident earlier this month.
Mrs. Staples was born on September 23, 1914 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of the late Harvey and Blanche Black Zeigler. She was married to Rev. Earl H. Staples on Dec. 25, 1941 in New Castle. He preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 2007.
She was a graduate of Shenango High School, class of 1932.
Mrs. Staples had been employed briefly in her earlier years as a teacher’s aide with the Titusville school district.
She and her husband were members of the Cochranton Community Church following their retirements.
Mrs. Staples is survived by two sons, David Staples and his wife Judy of Malvern, PA, Lloyd Staples and his wife Kathie of Petersburg, VA; two daughters, Joy Cable and her husband Ed of Salem, OH and Cynthia Stover of Guys Mills; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Anderson and her husband Dwight of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Stover; a great grandson; three brothers, Wilbur, Merle and Walter Zeigler; and two sisters, Violet Stelter and Dorothy Morris.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville, PA on Saturday from noon to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Clulow, pastor of the Cochranton Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Black Ash Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Wesbury United Methodist Community Benevolent Fund 31 N. Park Ave. Meadville, PA 16335.
