Obituary of Andrew J. Swabik
Mr. Andrew J. Swabik, Sr., 85, of 17325 Station Rd. Centerville, died Saturday morning January 2, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Swabik was born on April 15, 1924 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Mike and Catherine Kedjuk Swabik. He was married to Virginia Muir who preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1969.
Mr. Swabik had attended the Tryonville School. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on Jan. 3, 1944 in Titusville and was honorably discharged at Bainbridge, MD on May 2, 1946.
Mr. Swabik had been employed at Cooper Energy in Corry for a number of years from where he retired.
Mr. Swabik was of the catholic faith. He was a former member of the VFW and BPO Elks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.
Mr. Swabik is survived by his companion, Lucille Clickett of Centerville; three children, Diane Malone and her husband Gary of Saegertown, Randy Swabik of Centerville, and Dan “Chub” Swabik and his companion Debbie Rasmussen of Ashville, NY; two granddaughters, Tina Brooks and Missy Lewis; two great grandchildren, Sarah and Ali; two sisters, Elsie Watson and her husband Leon, and Anna Swabik, all of Centerville; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four children, Andrew “Joe” Swabik, Jr., David Swabik, Kimberly Swabik, and an infant son at birth; a brother, John Swabik; and a sister, Margaret Swabik.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Monday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A vigil service will be conducted Monday at 3:45 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Fr. D.G. Davis III, pastor of the Titusville Catholic Community, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
