Obituary of Robert L. Heffern
Robert L. Heffern, 87, of 2105 Buxton Rd. Titusville, died Sunday afternoon November 28, 2010 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Mr. Heffern was born on March 12, 1923 in Oil City, a son of the late Lee and Lenore Coughlin Heffern. He was married to Betty Stokes Nixon on June 18, 1971 in Titusville.
Mr. Heffern had attended the Oil City and Bradford schools. He had been employed by Ray Anderson at Cross Creek Resort where he helped with the construction of the facilities and golf course. He later became greens keeper there until 1980 at which time he went to work for Fisher and Young Lumber. He returned to Cross Creek Resort in the late 1980’s where he eventually became head of the maintenance department.
Mr. Heffern was known to drive his golf cart to and from work at Cross Creek Resort. He enjoyed restoring Jaguar cars, camping, occasionally hunting and fishing, and gambling at Atlantic City, NJ.
He is survived by his wife of Titusville; three children, Sharon Reninger of Homosassa, FLA, Victoria Nixon of Fairfax, VA, and Norman Nixon of Winter Springs, FLA; three grandchildren, Dawn Bramblett, Dana Doss and Jessica Nixon; and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Speaks and Dorothy McIntyre.
No public calling hours or funeral service will be conducted.
The family asks that memorials be made to any local Humane Society.
