Obituary of Dorothy Sanders
Dorothy Sue Sanders, 86, passed away Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at her residence at 697 Tarr Rd. Titusville.
Dorothy was born on October 13, 1929 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Dr. Michael and Edna Germany Cole. She was married to Lloyd G. Sanders of Mineral Springs, AR who preceded her in death.
At the age of 65, she opened the Candy Garden Tea Room in LaPorte, TX where she served brunch and lunch and developed a loyal following of patrons.
She moved to Titusville and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dorothy excelled at preparing southern style food; was an avid reader; loved to go fishing, and always enjoyed visiting with friends over dinner and a glass of wine.
She is survived by the following children; Sonny Sanders and wife Ardie of Ethel, LA, Mickey Sanders and wife Leatha of Spicewood, TX, and Donna Stoughton of Titusville with whom she resided; nine grandchildren; Robin McDurham and husband Doug of Waco, TX, Nikki Pena and husband Eddie, and Jay Sanders and wife Julie, all of Westlake, LA, Brandi Sanders and partner Larry Burchfield of Santa Fe, TX, Jeff Sanders and wife Courtney of San Diego, CA, Denise Soden and husband Roger, Jarrod Sanders and wife Christy, Melanie Sanders, and, Brian Strub and wife Lisa of New Brighton, MN; 20 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Delores Sanders of Pearland, TX; and two nephews, Nolan Stone and wife Ginger of Clearlake, TX and Marty Cole and wife Penny of Pearland, TX. Dorothy was also blessed to be survived by multiple nieces, nephews and cousins in MS and throughout the south.
In addition to her parents and husband, six brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
No public calling hours or service will be conducted.
The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354.
