Obituary of Ruby Y. Britt

Ruby Y. Britt, 60, of 110 E. Bloss St. Titusville, passed away Friday afternoon March 25, 2016 at her residence following an extended illness. Ruby was born on November 13, 1955 in Titusville, a daughter of Marlene Hartwig Rodgers and the late Wayne Rodgers. She was married to Charles R. “Rick” Britt on July 21, 1979 in Titusville at Burgess Park. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2015. Ruby was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1973. She had worked as a caregiver for a number of families. She had also volunteered during her early years at the Titusville Area Hospital as a candy striper, and later worked there in the kitchen. She had been employed at the former Arcade Restaurant in Titusville. She had also passed her licensing requirements earning her CDL license for driving big rigs over the road. Ruby was an accomplished cake decorator and enjoyed baking candy and cookies for her family and friends. She enjoyed taking rides and getting lost as well as chasing rainbows. She was always thinking about others needs and what she could do to help. Ruby is survived by her mother of Titusville; three brothers, Wayne “Mike” Rodgers of Titusville, Jon Rodgers and wife Rose of Hydetown, and Donald “Donny” Rodgers of Titusville; four sisters, Linda Rodgers and husband Bill of Ridgeville, SC, Beth Beers and husband Stub of Titusville, Rita Jolly and husband Eugene of Holley, NY, and Tonia McGarvie and husband Greg of Centerville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; a special niece, Amanda “Panda Bear” Gilson of Titusville; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Patricia Kline of Oil City and Cindy Bryan and husband Rick of Titusville. She will be sadly missed by her pet dogs “Ember” and “Toby”. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rashell Rodgers. No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a memorial service celebrating her life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F. & A.M. 103 W. Walnut St. Titusville, PA. Memorials may be made to the family, c/o Beth Beers 11856 Springcreek Rd. Titusville, PA 16354. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Allison Dilks of Oil City; and Kate, Kelly, Trish, Stacey, and Shelby of the Titusville office of Hospice of Crawford County for their love and compassion during her care at home.
