Obituary of Carole M. Filson

Mrs. Carole M. Filson, 78, of 308 E. State St. Pleasantville, passed away on Sunday, April 03, 2016 at 2:45 AM at her residence. Carole was born on September 12, 1937 in Titusville to the late Theodore and Mildred Taylor Bryan. She married Homer E. Filson on September 14, 1957 at St. Walburga Church. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2010. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy class of 1955. She worked at various locations in Titusville and was last employed as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Carole was a member of St. Titus Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of the Pleasantville Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered at the St. James soup kitchen. Carole was an accomplished seamstress, however she could not bake a good pie crust. She enjoyed bowling in the senior citizen league, watching NASCAR and the PGA, and being with friends and family. Carole is survived by her five children; Richard Filson and wife Pamela of Katy, TX, Teresa Snyder and husband Craig of Spartansburg, Judith Kitchen and husband Robert of Hadley, PA, Homer D. Filson of Pleasantville, and David Filson and wife Debra of Knox; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister Leora Harley of Florida; and two brothers, Robert Bryan of Bremerton, WA, and Theodore Bryan of Idaho. She was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Kightlanger. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Fr. Walter E. Packard pastor of the Catholic Community of Titusville, officiating. Interment will be at St. Catharines Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the St. James Soup Kitchen 112 E. Main St. Titusville, PA 16354 or the Pleasantville Vol. Fire Dept. 157 S Main St, Pleasantville, PA 16341.
