Obituary of Gale R. Hunter

Mr. Gale R. “Snuffy” Hunter, 72, of 407 Vine St. Tionesta, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Titusville Area Hospital. Mr. Hunter was born on Aug. 7, 1937 in Endeavor, a son of the late Floyd and Velma McKay Hunter. He was married to Wilma Nuttall on Jan. 17, 1959 at West Hickory. Mr.Hunter had attended the East Hickory and West Forest schools. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with PennDOT for 18 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the VFW in Tidioute and of the Tionesta Lodge of Freemasons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife of Tionesta; a son, Daniel Hunter of Tionesta; his twin brother, Dale Hunter and his wife Phyllis of West Hickory; two brothers, Ronald Hunter and his wife Lawanda of Kellettville, and Keith Hunter and his wife Francis of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Cleora “Keek” Buck of Stephens City, VA; a special aunt, Bertha Hunter of Endeavor; a special uncle, Willard McKay of Tidioute; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hunter; and four brothers, Dalton, Melvin, Carl “Gene”, and Burle Hunter. No public calling hours or funeral service will be observed. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Tionesta Library or to the Tionesta Volunteer Ambulance Service.
