Obituary of Marion L. Allis

Marion L. Allis, 86, of 130 E. State Street Pleasantville, died Tuesday afternoon May 18, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Aspinwall. Mr. Allis was born on December 4, 1923 at Medina County, Ohio, a son of the late Hubert and Fern Elliott Allis. He was married to Charlotte Jean Roberts on May 21, 1949 in Pleasantville. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2009. Mr. Allis was a graduate of the Chatham High School in Chatham, OH. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on Feb. 16, 1943 and was honorably discharged on Jan. 23, 1946. Mr. Allis was owner of H J Allis & Son Drilling for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church and a life member of the VFW Post in Chatham, OH. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and coin collecting. Mr. Allis is survived by the following children; Joseph L. Allis and wife Barbara of Galeton, PA, Susan M. Ondrasik and husband William of Coraopolis, Michael L. Allis of Pleasantville, and Thomas C. Allis and wife Betty of Pleasantville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Allis of Ohio. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cindy Allis and a brother, Melvin Allis. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Saturday from noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Donald Russell, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville with full military rites conducted by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. FLOWERS
