Obituary of James E. Kubasik

James E. Kubasik, 69, of Spartansburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 12, 2016. James was born in Wesleyville on March 6, 1947 to the late Edward J. and Genevieve Gillespie Kubasik. He graduated from Wesleyville High School. James was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Hazel Black Vanderhoff on June 22, 2002 in Spartansburg. James worked in the tool and die industry for many years. He was also a small business owner, having owned French Creek Inn in Waterford for several years. He enjoyed fishing, and worked as a guide on a charter boat on Lake Erie for walleye fishing. Through James’ life he enjoyed his horses, especially taking them to the Spartansburg Fair, working on cars, painting cars, hunting, golfing, and cake decorating. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved to spend time with his grandson, Haden J. Smith, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family; even dressing up as Santa for everyone at Christmas. James is survived by his loving wife Hazel; two daughters, Danielle Loper and husband Michael of Greenfield, and Michelle Popff and husband Anthony of Harbor Creek; five step children, Hubert Vanderhoff, Jr. and wife Marlene of Spartansburg, Leroy Vanderhoff and wife Brenda of Cranberry, Brenda Upton of Corry, Cindy Vanderhoff of Spartansburg, and Candy Hicks of Meadville; four siblings, Michael Kubasik and wife Linda of Erie, Kathleen (Margosian) Kubasik of Harbor Creek, Mark Kubasik and wife Roben of Wesleyville, and Gregory Kubasik and wife Michelle of Wesleyville; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home, 203 E. Main Street, Titusville, PA on Monday, May 16, 2016 from noon to 2 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Timothy Harger of the Rometown Community Church officiating. Military rights will be observed. Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
