Obituary of Joyce C. Stewart
Joyce C. Stewart, 80, of Centerville, passed away Thursday evening May 19, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born on January 3, 1936 at Union City, PA, a daughter of the late Albert and Alta Benson Carr. She was married to George M. Stewart on June 19, 1954. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2014.
Joyce earned her GED from the Titusville Area High School, class of 1975. She had been employed as Rome Township tax collector for the past 34 years. She had also worked over the past years as an aid for home health care for a number of families, and also as the neighborhood babysitter.
Joyce was a member of the Rometown Community Church and a member of the Centerville Women’s Club. She was a former member of the Rome Township Ladies Aid Society. She had been appointed as a polling official and also as a Census Bureau employee. She had been an Avon representative. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
Joyce is survived by the following children; Curtis Stewart and wife Jane of Madison, OH, Christopher Stewart of Titusville, Scott Stewart and wife Dina of Corry, Valerie Crabb and husband Mark of Blooming Valley, Celeste Logsdon and husband Jeff of Centerville, and Nicole Stewart of Titusville; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Stroup of Corry and Sylvia Matava and husband Michael of Union City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Stewart.
Friends may call at the Rometown Community Church 44364 Harrison Rd. Spartansburg on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Timothy Harger officiating.
Interment will be in Covenanter Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Rometown Community Church or to the Northwestern Kidney Foundation 1811 Manchester Rd. Erie, PA 16502.
