Obituary of Richard Joseph Holzer
Mr. Richard J. Holzer, 83, of Townville, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
He was born in Pittsburgh on October 16, 1932 to the late Joseph and Margaret Bronder Holzer.
Mr. Holzer graduated from St. Wendelins High School in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Holzer was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on February 12, 1953 in Pittsburgh, and was honorably discharged on January 19, 1955 at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland, with the rank of sergeant.
He married Ruth Bachman on November 28, 1957 at St. Wendelins in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Holzer was employed at Radio Air Corporation in McMurray as a service manager and later the Vice President. He was later self-employed with his hearing aid repair company, Eastern Electronics Lab.
He attended and volunteered with many Christian churches in the Titusville area.
Mr. Holzer and his wife were foster parents to three children. He enjoyed bike riding, boating, gardening, hunting and fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Mr. Holzer is survived by his loving wife of fifty eight years, Ruth of Townville; two sons, Richard A. Holzer and wife Stacey of Troy Township, and Pastor Raymond Mitchell and wife Lisa of New Milford, PA; five grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Holzer, Felicia and Katie Mitchell, and Tim Mitchell and wife Melissa; two great grandchildren, David and Madison; a brother, Joseph Holzer of Baldwin; a sister, Nancy Moore and husband Harry of Huston, PA; a brother in law, Andrew Bachman and wife Charlotte of Baldwin; a sister in law, Joyce Bachman of Cleveland, TN; and eight nieces and nephews, Sandy, Glen, and Jacqueline Bachman, Heather Randlett, Craig Huber, Matthew and Megan Moore, and David Moore and wife Reese.
No public services will be observed. A private memorial service is being conducted by the family with full military rites observed.
