Obituary of Brian T. Oviatt

Mr. Brian T. Oviatt, 76, of Titusville, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Marquette Hospice House in Meadville. Brian was born in Titusville on January 30, 1940, to the late Kenneth and Ellen O’Brien Oviatt. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, class of 1957. Mr. Oviatt married Gayle McNamara on January 19, 1963 at St. Titus Church, where they are both members. Mr. Oviatt was employed at A&P for twenty-seven years, and retired from Cytemp Steel after fourteen years. He competed as a member of the National Horseshoe Society. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, coached baseball, enjoyed traveling, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family. Mr. Oviatt is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years, Gayle of Titusville; two daughters, Lisa Garon and husband Steve of Surprise, AZ, and Karen Oviatt of Durham, NC; two sons, Shawn Oviatt and wife Tina of Hudson, OH, and Kevin Oviatt and wife Amy of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Chad and Shane Garon, Mia and Ian Oviatt, and Ainsley, Brody, and Simon Oviatt; a brother, Michael Oviatt and wife Kimberly of Titusville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth A. Oviatt. Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington Street, Titusville, PA 16354 on Tuesaday, May 31, 2016 from 7 to 9 PM, and attend a mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Titus Church, with Father Walter E. Packard officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Saint Vincent Hospital, 232 W 25th St, Erie, PA 16544. The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Vincent Hospital for the care and hospitality provided to them.
