Obituary of William Phillips

Mr. William R. “Bill” Phillips, 80, of 584 LeBoeuf Trail Rd., Titusville died at 11:38 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Titusville Area Hospital shortly after his arrival. Mr. Phillips was born on October 18, 1929 in Oil City to the late James B. and Edith Davenport Phillips. He married Carol Morton on July 25, 1953, in Spartansburg. He was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1947. He was also a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. Mr. Phillips was a welder and worked out of the Plumbers and Steamfitters local union #47, Beaver Valley. He was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church, Titusville Lodge #754 F.& A.M, Oil City Lodge of Perfection, New Castle Consistory, Col. Drake Shrine Club and Zem Zem Shrine in Erie, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and Elks Lodge #264. Mr. Phillips was an avid golfer who belonged to the Elder Statesmen Golf League and Mt. Hope Golf League, and enjoyed bowling in several leagues. He especially loved being surrounded by his family. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife Carol Phillips of Chapmanville; three children, Bradley J. Phillips and wife Belinda of Hollywood, MD, Rex A. Phillips and wife Cathy of Chapmanville, Jodi L. Mihailoff and husband Nick of Townville; nine grandchildren, Kane Phillips and wife Kim, Renee Ledebur and husband Dan, Isaac Phillips, Maegan Kuehner and husband Adam, Rex A. Phillips II, Tessa Phillips, Zack Mihailoff, Adrianne Burrows and husband Micky, Sydney Mihailoff; six great grandchildren, Brady and Jeremiah Ledebur, Lauren and William Phillips, Micaiah and Frederick Kuehner; five brothers, Charles Phillips and wife Marge of Sun City, CA, Robert Phillips and wife Leta of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Paul Phillips and wife Delores of Sun City, CA, Larry Phillips and wife Pat of Knox, Denny Phillips and wife Bobbi of Chester, W.VA; two sisters, Shirley McHugh and Beverly Skaggs both of Fairview, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Phillips. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapmanville Community Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Glen Van Cise, officiating. Interment will be in the Chapmanville Cemetery.
