Obituary of Doris Palmer Tenney Kuhn
Doris Palmer Tenney Kuhn went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 11, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City after a period of declining health.
Doris was born on July 7, 1925 in Oil City, a daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Grace Irene Gardiner Adams.
She had attended the Oil City schools and also one year at Welch’s Business School. Doris had worked for 18 years at the former Oil City Glass Plant.
In her younger days, she practically lived at the roller skating rink. She was an animal lover and in later years had bird feeders, corn for the deer, and a stray cat she named Blackie that became a beloved family pet. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word search puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles until physical limitations made it too difficult. In recent years she played dominos and card games with her family.
While living in Titusville, she was a member of the Titusville Church of the Nazarene where she was a greeter for many years. She also worked in the nursery. After moving to Oil City, she transferred her membership to the Oil City Church of the Nazarene.
Doris is survived by a brother Fred Adams of Reno; three daughters, Beverly McQuiston of Titusville (formerly of Plumer), Carol Palmer of Titusville, and Barbara Tenney and husband Thomas of Oil City; her grandchildren, Crystal Westlake and husband Jim of Oil City, Steve Porter and wife Erica of Ravenna, OH, and Kim Tenney of Oil City; her great grandchildren, Ariana Knox, Greg Tenney and wife Kia, and Allye Tenney; and her great great grandson, Troian Avery Tenney who was born on January 31, 2016. Also surviving are many step-children, step-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Vicki Lynn Palmer; brothers, Howard, Wade and Bill Adams; and husbands Ray Tenney and John Kuhn.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from noon to 1:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted by Rev. William Hopkins.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family asks that memorials in Doris’ honor be made to the Church of the Nazarene 601 E. Second St. Oil City, PA 16301; to the Golden Living Center 1293 Grandview Rd. Oil City, PA; or to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
