Obituary of Richard H. Jameson
Mr. Richard H. “Dick” Jameson, 92, of Overlook Dr., Titusville passed away at 3:00 AM on Friday, July 01, 2016, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Mr. Jameson was born on January 16, 1924, in Titusville to the late Dr. Hugh and Shirley Sullivan Jameson. He married Maxine E. Baker on August 14, 1948, in Titusville. Mrs. Jameson preceded him in death on February 14, 2013.
He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1941 and attended The Hill School before being drafted into the US Navy.
Dick entered the service on January 27, 1943, and served on the USS Bataan until being honorary discharge April 5, 1946, with the rank of Y3C.
He worked for the railroad in Philadelphia before returning to Titusville where he was employed for over 40 years with Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp and retired as foreman of the cold roll division.
Mr. Jameson was a lifetime member of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and 64 year member with B.P.O. Elks #264.
He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, golfing and bowling. He also umpired for teener league baseball for several years, loved watching sports, and spending winters with his wife in either Marco Island or Lake Placid, FL.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Christine Tucker and husband Darren of Titusville; 3 grandchildren, Phillip Pavlecka and wife Diana of Leesburg, VA, Andrew Stiffler and Nicole Perkins both of Titusville; sister-in-law, Shirley Schweitzer and husband Clair of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard H. Jameson, a brother, Hugh Jameson, and a sister, Margaret Anderson.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from St. James Memorial Episcopal Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Cannon Martha Ishman, officiating. Full military rites will be observed.
