Obituary of Hattie S. Switzer

Mrs. Hattie S. Switzer, 92, formerly of Grand Valley and the Billie Brown Building in Titusville, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville where she had been a resident since June of 2008. Mrs. Switzer was born on March 25, 1917 at Fertigs, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Haskins Stover. She was married to Leonard S. Switzer on April 27, 1940 at Fertigs. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1983. Mrs. Switzer was a graduate of Cranberry High School, class of 1935 and also a graduate of Feller’s Beauty School in Oil City. She had been employed as tax collector of Southwest Township, Warren County for 12 years. Mrs. Switzer had attended the Grand Valley United Methodist Church and was a former member of the church choir. She was an honorary member of the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Dept.; a member of the Grand Valley Homemakers; a former member of the Newton Dinner Club; and a former member of the Friendship Club at the Billie Brown Building. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Jablonski and her husband Tim of Lake City, FLA; a son, Bernard Switzer and his wife Sharron of Warren, PA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Max McGarvie; a brother, Carl Stover; and two sisters, Eva Reynolds and Margie Molnar. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Perry Cemetery in Fertigs, PA. The family asks that memorials be made to the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Grand Valley United Methodist Church. FLOWERS
