Obituary of Craven Canady
Mr. Craven “Sonny” Canady, Sr., 84, of W. Park Ave., Titusville passed away on Friday evening, August 26, 2016, at the Golden LivingCenter in Oil City.
Mr. Canady was born on May 28, 1932, in Robeson County, NC to the late Raymond and Mary Black Canady. He married Grace Pirro on September 6, 1958, in Buffalo, NY.
He was employed as a foreman for Frontier Foundries in Buffalo, NY and Titusville, Pa for 38 years.
Sonny was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Crawford County in PA.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Sonny is survived by his wife Grace Canady of Titusville, PA; 5 children, Flori Thomann and husband Dale of Schenectady, NY, Craven Canady, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Lutz, FL, Karen Grace and husband Daniel of Wichita, KS, Debby MacDougall and husband Lyle, Mark Canady and wife Cyndy all of Buffalo, NY; 9 grandchildren, Dale Jr., Melinda, Dylan, Julia, Emily, Kaitlyn, Gabriella, Andrew, Justin; a great-grandson, Luca; 3 sisters, Edell Freeman and husband W.J. of Gibson, NC, Annie Ruth Oxendine of Pembroke, NC, Janice Oxendine of Sunset Harbor, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Delton and Buddy Canady; and a sister, Revie Locklear.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the First Presbyterian Church 216 N. Franklin St., Titusville, PA on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Norma Prina Murphy interim pastor of the church, officiating.
