Obituary of Shirley Jane Burt Myers

Shirley Jane Burt Myers, 88 years old, passed away after suffering a stroke on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 7:15 a.m. at the Titusville Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Golden Living Center in Titusville. Shirley attended Titusville and Pleasantville schools and she worked at various jobs throughout her life, but the one she enjoyed most was as an aide (Miss Shirley) at the Fun Factory at the YWCA. She was active in the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church and served as deacon. She loved music and enjoyed singing the hymns of the church. She enjoyed all music and loved her family. Shirley served as Secretary of the Burt-Eddy Reunion for many years and she was proud to list the many accomplishments of her siblings and her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was a member of the Marine Corps League and she received an award from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia. She was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. She is survived by sister, Patricia L. Ball of Titusville, a brother Dr. Bruce C. Burt of Exton, PA, sister Mary Jean Schell of Townville, and sister Judith A. Mielke of Titusville. Also surviving Shirley are sisters-in-law Gloria Burt and Patricia Burt, brother-in-law John Galford and many nephews and nieces. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Fred and Eleanor Burt, her sisters Joanne Lerch and Nancy Newton, and her brothers Colonel Wayne F. Burt, Edwin J. Burt, and Thomas R. Burt. She was also predeceased by husbands Arthur Huff, Lloyd McKune, and Vance Myers. Shirley was also predeceased by her nephew Charles Huff, whom she raised and by her niece, Jody L. Walker, a brother in- law Thomas Newton, and two sisters in- law Evelyn and Barbara Burt. The family will receive friends at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church on Saturday September 3, 2016 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at which time a memorial service will be conducted with Rev. Jamie Folwer, officiating. Interment will be at Neiltown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church 155 E. State St. Pleasantville, PA 16341.
