Obituary of Gerald E. Myers
Mr. Gerald E. “Jerd” Myers, 87, of Buxton Rd., Titusville passed away at 11:47 AM on Monday, September 5, 2016, at UPMC-Hamot in Erie.
Mr. Myers was born on September 20, 1928, in Rouseville to the late Grant and Mabel McCall Myers. He married Leila Joyce Cauvel on July 2, 1952, in Elkton, MD. Mrs. Myers preceded him in death on August 24, 2002.
He attended Titusville area schools.
Mr. Myers worked his entire life in the oil industry as a gauger, welder and truck driver for Valvoline, Wolfe’s Head and Pennzoil.
He was a member of the Titusville F & A.M Lodge #754.
Mr. Myers enjoyed living for 6 months of the year in Mims, FL. He also kept busy being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and traveling.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Darlene McIntyre and husband James, Charlene Hopkins and husband Ronald of Titusville; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Mullen and husband Jeffrey of Titusville, Shanel Hopkins and fiancé Rodney Potts of Meadville, Steven McIntyre and wife Lacy, Stacey McIntyre both of Harborcreek; 3 great grandchildren, Evan Mullen, Reese McIntyre, Maverick McIntyre; a brother-in-law, J. Keith Cauvel and wife Mary of Erie; a sister-in-law, Jean Staub of Tacoma, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Grant “June” Myers Jr., Leon Myers; and 2 sisters, Mary Loney and Lavena Keyes.
Friends may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home 203 E. Main St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Glen VanCise, pastor of the Chapmanville Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Cherrytree Cemetery.
