Obituary of Wyndam C. Jones

Wyndham Conover Jones, Jr. known as “Brud” Jones of Titusville died peacefully on Sunday morning September 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. Brud was a lifelong resident of Titusville. Born May 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Wyndham C Jones, Sr. and Hattie Eastwood Jones. He married Anna Maxine Nelson on September 9, 1953 in Titusville. Maxine passed away on October 3, 2009. Brud graduated from the Titusville High School in 1943. He was a WW II veteran, enlisted in the US Navy on July 12, 1943. He served in the Asiatic Pacific in the American Campaign, Philippine Liberation. He was awarded a victory medal. He was honorably discharged as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Second Class on March 13, 1946 at Sampson, NY. He attended Kettering School-General Motors Institute for Automotive Mechanic Training. He retired from the family business, Jones Brothers, Inc.as Vice President and Service Manager in 1990. Brud was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Titusville Blue Lodge F & AM with a 32nd degree, a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 264, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. and sang bass in the Conewango Clippers Barbershop Chorus, numerous quartets and the church choir. He was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents and wife Maxine, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters-in-law, David and Joanne Jones, Philip and Clara Jones, Betty Curry and Agnes Schall. He is survived by a son Jeffrey N. Jones and wife Joanie of Titusville, and daughter Jennifer J. Herring and husband Dale “Scooter” of Erie, and three grandchildren Brandon M. Herring of Pittsburgh, Christian G. Herring of Erie and Sarah E. Jones of Titusville, a brother Hugh F. Jones and wife Peg, sister-in-law Esther Jones, brothers-in-law Charles Curry and Jack Schall and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Tom Newcombe, Adult Ministry Leader at the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
