Obituary of Dorothy Louise Hall Fair

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Hall Fair, 74, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016, in Titusville at Country Acres Personal Care Home. Dorothy was born in Canonsburg, PA on January 16, 1942, to the late Edward E. and Gertrude Burns Hall. She graduated from Colestock High School, class of 1959. Dorothy attended Westminster College, then graduated from Allegheny General Nursing School as a registered nurse in 1963. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville, Marcy Behavioral Health in Pittsburgh, and retired from Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC in Pittsburgh. Dorothy married Mr. Thomas Fair on November 5, 1966, in Pittsburgh. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1986. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park. Dorothy was a devout Elvis Presley fan and was a member of his fan clubs. She was also a Steelers fan. She enjoyed little children, especially her seven great nieces. She had a great sense of humor and she and her brother-in-law, Carrell Rainey, would have a grand time bantering with each other. She also enjoyed humorous greeting cards. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Betty Rainey of Pleasantville; two nieces, Cindy Raposas and husband Angel of Hollidaysburg, and Susan Kim and husband Jong Hoon of Champaign, IL; a nephew, David Rainey and wife Karen of Beckley, WV; and seven great nieces, Christine and Rachel Raposas, Catherine, Emily, & Heather Rainey, and Gina and Sunnah Kim. In addition to her parents, husband, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Mr. Carrell Rainey. Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington Street, Titusville, PA 16354, on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM, with the funeral service to follow, with Pastor Lee Baker officiating. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg. Memorial contributions can be made to THS Alumni Association, 301 E. Spruce Street, Titusville, PA 16354 or to the First United Methodist Church, 302 W. Walnut Street, Titusville, PA 16354.
