Obituary of Donald L. Bossard

Donald L. “Yondy” Bossard, 84, of Centerville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 9, 2016 of natural causes. Don was born on December 28, 1931 at Saegertown, a son of the late Paul and Gertrude O’Rourke Bossard. He was first married to Barbara J. King who preceded him in death in 1990. He later married Hazel McElhaney Keyes on May 2, 1992 in Virginia. Don was a graduate of Townville High School. He was a veteran having served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 11, 1955 with the rank of airman first class. He had been employed by the former Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. from where he retired after 33 years of service. Don was a member of the Lyona Bible Church. He was a member of “The Retreads” motorcycle club. He enjoyed cutting wood, riding his motorcycle, gardening, hunting, and was an all-around hobby farmer. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Ford drivers. Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an extremely devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Hazel of Centerville; five children, Stephen Keyes of Evansville, IN, Tom Bossard and wife Katie of Adrian, MI, Jennifer Entwistle and husband Mark and Jackie Stewart and husband Scott, all of Centerville, and Kelly Bossard and wife Denise of Gaithersburg, MD; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Ann Moore of Sebring, FL; two brothers, John “Jack” Bossard and wife Marilyn of Estill Springs,TN, and Paul Bossard of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son Timothy Bossard. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Lyona Bible Church with Pastor Michael Fraser officiating. Interment will be in Troy Center Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center P.O. Box 6051 Albert Lea, MN 56007.
