Obituary of Winifred A. Johnson

Mrs. Winifred A. Johnson, 93, formerly of Grand Valley, died at 3:27 AM on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville where she had been a resident since 2007. Mrs. Johnson was born on May 22, 1917 at Sanford, PA, a daughter of the late Carl and Alice Van Guilder Goodwill. She was married to Frank M. Johnson on June 20, 1934 in Warren. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1992. Mrs. Johnson had attended the Youngsville High School. She was formerly employed as the head cook at Wesley Woods for 33 years and in 1998 was awarded the Wesley Woods Hall of Fame Award for her loyalty, instruction, wonderful example, faithfulness, hospitality, service and good food over the years at Wesley Woods. She was a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Newton Dinner Club and of the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Donald L. Johnson, Jerry R. Johnson, Robert L. Johnson and his wife Cynthia, and Dennis L. Johnson, all of Grand Valley; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Goodwill of Columbus, PA and Harold Goodwill of Union City; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brad and Jeff Johnson; and a sister, Hazel Drake. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sanford Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Dept.; Wesley Woods; or to the Grand Valley United Methodist Church. FLOWERS
