Obituary of James E. Fry
James E. Fry, 73, of Hydetown, passed away Thursday morning November 24, 2016 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Jim was born on February 28, 1943 at Oil City, a son of the late Lee Willis and Edna Yoder Fry. He was married to Cathy Lee Stewart on Aug. 30, 1969 at Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2013.
Jim was a graduate of Townville High School.
He was a veteran having served in the US Army. He entered the service on Feb. 21, 1966 at Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1969.
Jim had been employed at the former Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville for over 19 years until its closing. He had also been employed at St. James Memorial Episcopal Church and the First United Methodist Church as a caretaker of the facilities.
He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and close friends.
Jim is survived by three sons, Michael Fry and wife Danielle of Washington, DC, David Fry of Hydetown, and John Fry of Beckley, WV; three grandchildren, Donovan, Alexis and Carly Fry; two brothers, Robert Fry and wife Susan of Titusville and Thomas Fry and wife Cindy of Centerville; two sisters, Loraine Gilliam of Meadville and Pat Weaver of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Linda Fry of Sewickley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Richard Fry and two sisters, Virginia Roberts and Leora Ennis.
No public calling hours will be observed.
A private memorial service will be conducted for the family at St. James Memorial Episcopal Church.
The family asks that memorials be made to St. James Memorial Episcopal Church 112 E. Main St. Titusville, PA 16354.
