Obituary of Alice A. Foltz

Mrs. Alice A. Foltz, 84, of Centerville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. She was born in Corry on April 9, 1932 to the late Edward and Rose Nancy Burlingame Lee. Alice graduated from Corry High School, class of 1949. She graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College with a Bachelors of Elementary Education. Alice married Mr. Walter Foltz on July 3, 1954. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2012. She was a Special Education teacher for thirty-one years. She retired from Union City Elementary in 1993. Alice was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church. She was a very active member of her church. She taught Sunday school, was the choir director, and played the organ and piano there and at the Riceville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, going for long walks, doing yard work, and volunteering in the community. She was very giving of her time and self with her family and her church family. Above all, her love for her Lord was the greatest joy in her life. Alice is survived by a daughter, Debora Laird and husband Skip of Centerville; a son, Curtis W. Foltz and wife Catherine of Clarion; five grandchildren, Adrianne Hunt and husband Kevin of Warren, Deven Laird and wife Megan of Clarion, Alissa Fuller and husband Gavin of Centerville, Dylan Foltz of Slippery Rock, Leland Foltz stationed with the US Navy in Virginia; four great grandchildren, Madison, Kale, Reed, and Mia; two sisters, Olive Sammons of Wattsburg, and Mary Ellen Jones and husband Donald of Corry; a brother, Richard Lee and wife Marti of Corry; a brother in law, Robert Mitchell of Erie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Mitchell and Elsie Baker. Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington Street, Titusville, PA 16354, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10 AM at the Centerville United Methodist Church, 18679 Erie Street, Centerville, PA 16404 with Pastor James Cannistraci and Rev. Robert Willert, of the Union City Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Centerville United Methodist Church, 18679 Erie Street, Centerville, PA 16404.
