Obituary of Richard Leroy Proper

Mr. Richard L. Proper, 64, of 42047 Ames 3rd Lane Titusville, died, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. Richard was born on April 20, 1952 in Titusville to the late Clarence and Florence Davenport Proper. He married Sharon Moon on February 14, 1993 in Titusville. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1972. Richard also completed courses in EMT and fireman training. Richard worked as a laborer at various businesses, Phillips 66, Ajax Industries, National Forge in Warren, and was last employed at Eagle Snacks in Annapolis, MD. He also owned Maw and Paw’s gift shop in Titusville. He attended the Church of the Nazarene. Richard was a Hydetown volunteer fire fighter and worked as an EMT out of the Youngsville Fire Dept. He enjoyed making afghans for the WIC program and being with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of Titusville; a son, Jefferson Proper and wife Leslie of Willow Hill, PA; a daughter, April Marie McDonald of Preston, MD; a step-son, Michael Luktisch and fiancée Meaghen Kennedy of Oil City; a step-daughter, Stephanie Webber of Oil City; two brothers, Clarence “Butch” Proper and wife Janice of Mt. Jewett, PA, and Craig Proper and wife Chris of Carlisle, PA; a sister Carrie Hodak and husband Ronald of Youngsville; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Proper of Saegertown. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Proper. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. on Monday January 30, 2017 from 10AM to Noon at which time a service will be conducted with Pastor Robin Sterling of the Riceville Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Inurnment will be at Union Cemetery.
