Obituary of Patricia Ann Wilson
Patricia Ann Fries Wilson, 83, of Manchester House, Golfview Manor, Meadville, passed away on her birthday, February 18, 2017, after a long battle with COPD, at the Marquette Hospice House of Crawford County in Meadville surrounded by her family.
Patricia “Patty” was born in Espyville on February 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Peter Fries and Vera Estep Fries Ladner Berkebile.
Patricia was a dedicated employee of Talon, retiring as an engineer technical writer in the engineering department after 38 years. She cherished the Talon reunions enjoying her coworkers and friends.
Patricia was one of the areas talented golfers, as she was a member of several golfing leagues in the Meadville area. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She belonged to several card clubs. She loved her friendships with the “card club ladies”. Patricia had fun going to the horse races at the casino and playing bingo. Patricia was an avid history buff, reading, traveling and exploring history of the southern plantations was her favorite. She also enjoyed swimming.
Patricia over the years was a social member of the West Mead #2 Fire Hall and the Meadville Elks. She was a member of the Stone United Methodist Church of Meadville, where in earlier years she had taught Sunday school.
Patricia loved to cook. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her family holidays and get togethers.
Patricia attended the Linesville and Conneaut Lake schools. She obtained her GED at the age of 54 from the Penncrest School District.
Patricia is survived by a son, Ralph “Ted” Wilson and wife Karen of Cambridge Springs; two daughters, Debra Darcangelo and husband Richard of Saegertown, and Karen Pertz and husband Jay of Titusville; five grandchildren, Karli Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Jayla Pertz, Dr. DeAnn Salvo and husband Scott, and Brian Darcangelo; a brother, Lawrence Fries and wife Vera of Dillon, S.C.; a sister-in-law, MaryAnn Ladner of Conneaut Lake; many cousins, nephews, nieces and several special neighbors and friends.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Ladner and Ronald Ladner.
Family and friends may gather at the Barco Chapel at Grace Health Center at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, on Tuesday, February 21st from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Dave Brumagin, pastoral assistant at Trinity United Methodist Church of Conneaut Lake, officiating.
Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.
