Obituary of David C. Billig

David C. Billig, 83, of Titusville, PA passed away Saturday morning February 18, 2017 at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephryhills, FL following an extended illness from a stroke suffered on Oct. 31, 2016.

 

David was born on February 4, 1934 in Titusville, a son of the late Clyde D. Billig and Rhea Howard Ricke Billig. His father died when he was in infancy and David was raised by his mother and step father Willie (Pappy) Ricke. He was married to Joyce Bartlett on May 19, 1956 at St. James Memorial Episcopal Church in Titusville.

 

He was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1952. He had been employed at General Electric in Erie for 31 years as a quality control inspector until his retirement on April 1, 1994. He had previously owned the Quaker State Filling Station in Titusville and was also employed by the City of Titusville.

 

David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills, FL where he was a choir member for many years, and a former member of the Titusville First United Methodist Church. He loved the Lord and raised his family the same way.

 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years; bass fishing in Florida; woodworking, and camping at Tionest Dam every summer with his family. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Florida, prior to their moving to Florida.

 

David is survived by his wife Joyce of Zephyrhills, FL; three children, Stephen D. Billig and wife Bonnie of Harborcreek, Robin Weidner and husband Gary of Corry, Kim Peterson and husband Pete of Titusville; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Doris (Bartlett) Conway and several nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 302 W. Walnust Street, Titusville, PA 16354, with Pastor Lee Baker officitaing.  Public visitation starting at noon.

 

Inurnment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.

 

The family asks that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 302 W. Walnut St. Titusville, PA 16354 and to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 5760 Dean Dairy Rd. Zephyrhills, FL 33541.
