Obituary of Joseph A. Brenner
Mr. Joseph A. Brenner, 73, of 467 Meadville Rd., Titusville passed away on Saturday evening February 25, 2017.
Mr. Brenner was born on February 12, 1944, in Titusville to the late Albert and Katheryn Feher Brenner. He married Gail Norris Deres on August 16, 2004 in Titusville.
He was a graduate of Townville High School class of 1962, Edinboro State College in 1968 with a BS in art education. He also earned his master’s in education from Clarion State College in 1970.
Mr. Brenner taught elementary art for thirty-five years with the Union City Area School District before retiring in 2003.
He was a member of St. Titus Church.
He was a member of the PSEA, NEA, a PIAA wrestling official, Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Dept., Titusville B.P.O Elks #264, and RV’ers of America.
Joe enjoyed art, airbrush painting, sign design, bluegrass music, watching football, NASCAR and auto racing. Joe had served over 18 years as a speedway announcer for many popular speedways in Western and Northwestern PA. He cared dearly for his community and fire department. He was instrumental in the re-development of the Chapmanville Fire Department and held multiple positions there through the years.
He is survived by his wife Gail Brenner of Titusville; mother-in-law, Ruth Norris of Kitchener, Ont.; a step-son, Rob MacBride of Kitchener, Ont.; a step-granddaughter, Crystal MacBride of Kitchener, Ont.; two uncles, Stephen Brenner of Spartansburg and Zoltan Feher of Boston, MA; an aunt, Manci Totten of Coventry, RI; and numerous cousins throughout the area.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Titus Church, 513 W. Main St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10 AM with Fr. Walter E. Packard, pastor of the Catholic Community of Titusville, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
