Obituary of Joan Marie Inman Gardner
Mrs. Joan Marie Inman Gardner, 83, formerly of Pleasantville and Corry passed away at 1:15 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Countryside Nursing Home in Mercer.
Mrs. Gardner was born on July 16, 1933, in Corry to the late John and Jessie Bailey Kornikoski.
She was a graduate of Corry High School and earned an associated degree in nursing from Venango County Vo-Tech.
Joan was employed as an LPN for 20 years at the former Presbyterian Home in Titusville.
She was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Dade City, Florida. While in Pennsylvania she regularly attended services at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church.
Joan enjoyed staying active in her community at 7 Acres RV Community in Dade City, FL, playing cards and games. She was also an enthusiastic Pittsburgh Pirates fan. She traveled extensivley cross country to visit her children and grandchildren and made frequent trips to Branson, MO to attend country and western concerts.
She is survived by her husband Alfred Gardner whom she married on March 12, 2005, at the 7 Acres RV Community in Dade City, FL; Mr. Gardner currently resides in Mercer; 4 sons, Dennis Inman and wife Joan of Sun Prairie, WI, David Inman and wife Cynthia of Mercer, Bruce Inman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mark Inman of Lancaster and former daughter-in-law, Jeannette Inman of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Stacey, Kevin, Beverly, Lindsey, Angela, Christina, Joshua, Bethany, Andrew, Steven, Josiah; 5 step-children, Heidi Seidel of Germany, Linda Call and husband Steve of Bonham, TX, Jimmie Gardner and wife Rebecca of Gulf Port, MS, Laurie Gardner of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Gardner and partner Dave Cunningham of Buffalo, NY; a ½ brother, John Kornikoski and wife Barbara of Corry; 2 ½ sisters, Barbara and Karen both of Corry; sister-in-law, Charlotte Kornikoski of Youngsville; a niece, Sue Mulvin of TX; and numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale W. Inman whom she married on October 15, 1951, at the Blue Eye Wesleyan Methodist Church in Springcreek. Mr. Inman died on December 1, 1991; a brother Walter Kornikoski; her uncle and aunt, Ralph and Catherine Bailey whom she lived with on the family farm in Beaver Dam, as well as, her uncle and aunt Art and Myrtle Kimmey in Corry.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jamie Fowler pastor of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery Pleasantville.
