Obituary of William J. Conley
Mr. William J. “Joe” Conley, 93, formerly of Titusville, died at 5:03 AM Thursday, March 04, 2010 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home in Conneatville, PA. Joe was reunited Thursday morning with his late wife, Oly Mae Ewing, who preceded him in death recently on Jan. 13, 2010. They had been married for over 70 years.
Mr. Conley was born on April 20, 1916 at New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Robert and Ethel Mae Funk Conley.
Mr. Conley was a graduate of Atlanta High School, Atlanta, Indiana, class of 1935.
He had been employed as a machinist at Hillcrest Crankshaft and Machine and also at Grand Valley Manufacturing. He had been retired since 1979.
Mr. Conley was a member of the Titusville Wesleyan Methodist Church where he was a trustee and music director for many years. He was also a Sunday school superintendent for over 20 years.
Mr. Conley is survived by five children, Alice Muir and her husband Troy of Salem, OH, William J. Conley, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Raleigh, NC, Janice Douglas and her husband Chalmers of Titusville, Marilyn Beers and her husband Richard of Townville, and Sue Fuller and her husband Donald of Aliquippa; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Conley of South Bend, Indiana; a sister, Esther Miller of Lafayette, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel R. Douglas; five brothers, Russell, Dwight, Cecil, Robert and Keith Conley; and a brother-in-law, Richard Miller.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Titusville Wesleyan Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Hardy, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Titusville Wesleyan Methodist Academy or to the Allegheny Wesleyan College, both c/o Rev. Daniel Hardy 11984 Church Run Rd. Titusville, PA 16354.
