Obituary of Dolores J. Serafin

Mrs. Dolores J. Serafin, 77, of 431 Bank St. Titusville, died at 9:40 AM Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville. Mrs. Serafin was born on June 4, 1932 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Peter and Victoria Bartkowski Lucas. She was married to Walter A. Serafin on Dec. 8, 1958 in Titusville. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2002. Dolores was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1950. She had been employed at the former Riverside and Loblaws stores for a number of years, and was most recently employed at McDonald’s. She was a member of St. Walburga Church where she had served as lector, greeter and eucharistic minister. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Titusville PNA. Mrs. Serafin had been a volunteer at the former Beverly Health Care and Golden Living Center. She enjoyed needlework and crossword puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Jones of Colorado Springs, CO, and Teresa Van Fleet and her husband Jerry of Harker Heights, TX; two grandchildren, Tabatha and Michael Jones; three sisters, Eleanor Strawbridge and her husband Lester and Alice Martinek, all of Titusville, and Mary Ann Guzowski and husband Al of Erie; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Lynn Van Fleet. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Walburga Church with Fr. D.G. Davis III, pastor of the Titusville Catholic Community, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to St. Walburga Church c/o Catholic Community of Titusville 513 W.
