Obituary of Donald C. Worden
Mr. Donald C. Worden, 80, of 12112 State Highway 8 Titusville, died at 2:05 AM Wednesday March 17, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Worden was born on January 22, 1930 in Titusville, a son of the late Amos and Josephine Conover Worden. He was married to Nancy I. Rodgers on Sept. 25, 1954 at the Church of Christ in Titusville.
Mr. Worden was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1948. He had been employed in the automotive parts business for 46 years. He had worked for his father at Smith & Worden Garage in Titusville; for Lyle W. Peebles Garage; and was parts manager for 20 years at Keystone Ford Agency in California.
He was a veteran having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on Oct. 26, 1948 at Erie, PA and was honorably discharged on Aug. 31, 1952 at Butler, PA.
Mr. Worden was a member of the Elder Statesmen Golf League and Tri-City Golf League; a member of the BPO Elks No. 264; a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW; and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Worden was also a member of the Hydetown Boro Council; past president of the Kerr Hill Cemetery Association; and past president of Ford Forum.
He is survived by his wife of Titusville; three children, Beth Anne Worden of Titusville, Michael J. Worden of Chambersburg, and Donald Scott Worden of Apex, NC; three grandchildren, Kori Tibbens, Megan Worden, and Marrisa Huston; two great grandchildren, Isabella Huston and Cooper T. Huston; a sister, Martha Neva and husband Gene of Dana Point, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Worden; a grandson, Phillip “Buddy” Worden; and two brothers, Kenneth G. Worden and Russell H. Worden.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. No public funeral service will be conducted.
Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery.
