Obituary of Alden E. Post
Mr. Adlen E. Post, 85, of 37786 Armstrong Rd. Centerville, died Wednesday morning March 24, 2010 at his residence where he was born.
Mr. Post was born on August 29, 1924 in Centerville, a son of the late Elwin and Roxie Ross Post. He was married to Roberta “Bobbie” Jean Howard on May 18, 1950 at the Centerville Baptist Church.
Mr. Post was a graduate of Townville High School.
He had worked in the ice house at Centerville in his late teens and was a mail carrier at Centerville for several years. He had been a dairy farmer all his life operating Post Ridge Farms.
Mr. Post was a life member of the Centerville Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, church moderator, deacon, trustee and member of the choir. He served in various capacities with the Oil Creek Baptist Association.
He was a member of the Farm Credit Board; Crawford County Farmers Association; Crawford County Dairy Herd Improvement Association; Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Committee; Agway Store Committee; and National Holstein Association.
He was also a Townville Champs 4-H leader; served on the Townville School Board; a member of the Centerville Lions Club; served as long time committee member for Crawford County Republican Party; and served on the Crawford County Extension Executive Committee.
He enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. He enjoyed attending the Crawford County Fair and Camp Judson Family Camp. He also enjoyed making maple syrup.
Mr. Post will be remembered for his faith, his love for his family, his dedication to his church, and his love of farming.
He is survived by his wife of Centerville; four children, June Post and her husband George German of Colorado Springs, CO, Jack Post and his wife Pam of Centerville, Rose Ann Breuch and her husband Dan of Arvada, CO, and Glen Post and his wife Barb of Frenchville, PA; 10 grandchildren, Tracy McCullough and husband Jesse of Cochranton, Jeremy Post and wife Jill of Centerville, Mindy Slusher and husband Zac of Aurora, CO, Christopher Post of Meadville, Benjamin Post and wife Kayla of Sheakleyville, Michael Walls and fiancée Liz Stroo of Golden, CO, Ryan Walls of Arvada, CO, Jordan Post of Centerville, and Sara and Tori Post of North Carolina; 7 great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Mae Post of Titusville, Doris Shreve and husband Ernest of Union City, and Betty Lou Rutledge and husband Heath of Corning, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Friday) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM. Members of the Centerville Lions Club will conduct a memorial service today (Friday) at 5:45 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Centerville Baptist Church with Rev. David Leninsky, pastor, and Pastor Gary Kinnear of the Breedtown Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Centerville.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Centerville Baptist Church.
