After fighting a courageous and valiant battle with cancer, Neil Howard Doutt, age 71 of 39605 Reiser Road, Titusville, PA passed away at the Titusville Hospital on March 31, 2010.
He was born on April 29, 1938 in Erie, PA.
Mr. Doutt married Ethel Fenstermaker on June 3, 1961 in Titusville, PA. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage next summer.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Doutt is survived by his mother, Mrs. Eva Leonard Doutt of Cambridge Springs; three daughters, Dr. Linda Culbertson of Cochranton and her husband, Dean; Mrs. Jeannette Irwin of Union City and her husband, Jim; and Ms. Priscilla Hollis of Union City; seven grandchildren Zachary and Brooke Culbertson, Jenny (Trevis) McGarvie, Jimmy (Erin) Irwin, Jessica Irwin, Alicia Hollis and Robbie Hollis; six great grandchildren Alexis, Rylie, Marcus, Molly, and twins whose arrival he was anxiously awaiting. He also leaves behind several sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews through his wife’s family, and two aunts, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Kelly, Mrs. Bertha Leonard and several cousins, great nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Howard Doutt and his brother, Earl “Butch” Keith Doutt.
After graduating from Cambridge Springs High School in 1957, he enlisted in the National Guard where served his country and earned awards for his marksmanship.
Mr. Doutt spent most of his life as a machinist and truck driver, working at Carnation Milk Company, National Forge, Wendy Hill Machine, GKO Enterprises, and for East Troy Township. He never retired and was employed by Hasbrouck Sand and Gravel until he could no longer work. He enjoyed being “on the road”, waving to everyone he passed, decorating his rig for the holidays, and the special group of men he worked with.
He enjoyed traveling and even took a trip to Texas during the latter days of his illness to see his granddaughter, Alicia, who was completing her training at Lockland Air Force Base. He also enjoyed his small farm, his horses, and his dog, Connie. He enjoyed making his own pies and fruitcake. Neil especially loved his family, and was happiest when everyone was together at his home. He supported his grandchildren in their activities, attending their games and events with pride. He was proud of the life he had built with his wife and was not ready to leave it behind when illness struck.
