Obituary of Cheryl Margie Hinderks

Cheryl Hinderks, age 51, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at her home. Cheryl Margie was born on November 27, 1958, in Corry, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thomas I. and Margerie L. (Miller) Smith. She was raised in Titusville, where she graduated from high school. She lived in Pennsylvania until 1990, when she moved to northwest Iowa. For the past five years, she has made her home in Rock Valley. Cheryl worked in factories, convenience stores, and other stores. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa, and she assisted with the Special Olympics. She was a passionate supporter of the Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed bowling, reading, sewing, movies, walking, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her four children, Kristopher (Tonia) Hinderks, of Hospers, Iowa; Lisa Hinderks, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Steven (Becky) Hinderks, of Brandon, South Dakota; and Joey (Amy) Hinderks, of Rock Valley, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Chris, Melissa, Matthew, Kaelin, Jaden, Shawna, Braeden, Shelby, Kiersten, Kavan, and Sawyer; and seven sisters, Dolores (Brad) Donovan, Jeannette (Gary) Thornton, and Gladys (James) Snee, all of Titusville; Jacque (Nathan) Dickinson, of North East, Pennsylvania; Freda (Richard) Stoke, of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania; Dana (Robert) Kellogg, of Hydetown, Pennsylvania; and Beth (Robert) Sterner, of Oil City, Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kern “Dale” Smith. A graveside service will be conducted at East Troy Cemetery on Monday at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City, Iowa, or the American Cancer Society. Local arrangements are with the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville.
