Obituary of Mendall B. Beane

Mr. Mendall B. “Beany” Beane, 85, of 322 W. State St. Pleasantville, died at 6:30 AM on Sunday, May 09, 2010 at Country Acres Personal Care Home. He had been a resident there since March 26th. Mr. Beane was born on June 16, 1924 in Endeavor, Forest Co., PA, a son of the late Seldon and Erma Littlefield Bean. He was married to Barbara Rumbaugh on Feb. 27, 1943 in Tionesta. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2007. Mr. Beane was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. He entered the service on November 29, 1943 and was honorably discharged on May 5, 1946. He had been employed in many capacities at Devonian Oil and Gas in Pleasantville for 35 years. He was owner of Hilltop Garage after returning home from the World War II. He was also employed at Harbison Barrel Company while residing in Buffalo, NY for 16 years. He had attended the Pleasantville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Kensington Methodist Church in Buffalo, NY. He also was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW, and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association since 1985. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, riding his motorcycle, and visiting his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also was an active participant with Relay For Life. Mr. Beane is survived by three children, Sherry Huegel and husband Paul of San Antonio, TX, Linda Schirching and husband Michael of Spencerport, NY, and Jeff Beane and wife Jennifer of Coppell, TX; a son-in-law, Sam Palmeri of Lancaster, NY; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Gail Bean and wife Char of Titusville; a sister, Ann Marie McCandless of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Carol Bean of Titusville; numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends Ronnie and Nancy Gafner. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kandy Palmeri; an infant son, Michael Patrick Beane; two brothers, Lester and Serrill Bean; and a sister, Grace LoRusso. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville with full military rites. The family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Relay For Life. FLOWERS
