Obituary of Salli-Jo Spargo Baran

Salli-Jo “Salli” Spargo Baran, 65, of Tidioute, PA, died at 8:40 AM, May 4, 2017, at Clarion Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness due to a complication with R.A.

               Salli-Jo was born on March 22, 1952 in Succasunna, NJ, daughter of Jere-Lee Spargo and Joanne Johnson Spargo, of Succasunna, NJ, presently living in Tidioute, PA.  Salli-Jo moved to Tidioute in 1979 to be closer to her family.

               Salli-Jo was a graduate of Roxbury High School in Succasunna, NJ, class of 1970 with honors.   She attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA where she was an Alden Scholar.  She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Succasunna,NJ.

               Salli-Jo had been employed by Even-Flo Company in Tionesta, PA as a quality control supervisor until her retirement.  After retirement, she designed and sold many beautiful stain glass windows and stain glass art.

               In her youth, she was active in several 4H projects.  She mostly enjoyed her registered Jersey cows.  She earned three state Grand Champions and several top honors in showmanship and fitting class.  She had many top registered Jersey show cows which were also an important part of the family’s dairy farm business.  “Gracie” was her pride and joy show cow.

               Salli-Jo was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, John A. and Dorothy Wean Johnson; paternal grandparents, Norman S. and Rowena H. Spargo.

               Salli-Jo is survived by her parents, Jere-Lee and Joanne Johnson Spargo and three siblings, James (Claudia) Spargo of Warren, PA and Jeri-Lee Spargo Higgins and Jeff Spargo, both of Tidioute, PA.

               She was a loving, gentle (tender), compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and cousin.  She had a special finesse of making people feel comfortable and cared for.  She was a very warm, down to earth person.

               Salli-Jo was an avid animal lover, especially cats.  She would give stray animals food and often share her home with them.  She leaves behind her cat, “Micky”.

               There will be no visitation.  The family will have a private memorial service.
