Obituary of Harrison D. Wescoat
Mr. Harrison D. Wescoat, 75, of 3291 Newton Rd., Pittsfield died at 3:40 AM on Wednesday, February 02, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Wescoat was born on Nov. 20, 1935 in Pleasantville to the late Herbert C. and Mary Twombly Wescoat. He married Violet Southwick on June 13, 1973.
He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1954.
Mr. Wescoat was a veteran of the US Navy. He entered the service on July 19, 1954 at Buffalo, NY and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1958 at Philadelphia.
He was formerly employed by Trans Penn Wax, and a former co-owner of Wescoat’s Garage with his brother Jim. He later went to work as a truck driver for Crossett Trucking out of Warren. He retired from there after 30 plus years of service. He then worked part time for 10 years as a driver for Turbin Trucking.
Mr. Wescoat was a member of the Midway Alliance Church, a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and a former member of the Hydetown Saddle Club.
He was an avid Elk hunter in Colorado and in his younger days enjoyed horseback riding.
Mr. Wescoat is survived by his wife Violet Wescoat of Pittsfield; five daughters, Krista Wilson and husband Scot of Forest, VA, Mary Johnson and husband Ivan of Amherst, VA, Elaine Lambert and husband Ron of Fredericksburg, VA, Lori Eckland and husband Doug of Jamestown, NC, Esther Nickerson and husband Bryan of Clymer, NY; two sons, Joel Edwards and wife Patti of Youngsville, Steve Edwards and wife Linda of Pittsfield; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; three brothers, James Wescoat and wife Marge, Henry “Hank” Wescoat and wife Helen both of Titusville, Carl Wescoat of Grand Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; a great grandson; and a sister, Charlotte Coulter.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eric Swartzbaugh, pastor of the Midway Alliance Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
