Obituary of Mary Ann Heagy
Mary A. Heagy, 60, of Titusville, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening May 26, 2017 at her home.
Mary was born on August 14, 1956 at Lebanon, PA, a daughter of the late Herman and Sylvia Wenger Reist. She was married to Lynwood C. Heagy on March 27, 1976 at the Midway Church of the Brethren in Lebanon.
Mary was a graduate of Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, class of 1974.
Mary worked as the bookkeeper for the family farms in the Titusville area that she and her husband operated. She was president of the Crawford County Farm Women’s Association and founder of the local chapter. She was also majority inspector of the Oil Creek Township election board.
Mary enjoyed sewing, gardening in her flower beds, and playing piano. She was devoted to reaching out to those in the community and giving where there was a need. She had taught children’s ministries for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and served as the central figure of family activities. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Lynwood, of 41 years; the following children, Joshua Heagy and wife Suzanne of Titusville, Laura Grace and husband Robert of Centerville, Kate Fields and husband Jeffrey of Edmonton, KY, Lydia Heagy and fiancée Richard Ferguson of Lynchburg, VA, Elizabeth Coleman and husband Jacob of Fredericktown, OH, and Josiah Heagy of Titusville; the following grandchildren, Anna, Rebecca, Benjamin, Sara Kate, Eva, Thomas, Henry, and Jack Heagy, Lena, Kathryn, Abigail, Eric, and Jon Grace, Mercy and Luke Fields, Heidi, Israel, Peter, and Annie Coleman; a brother, Kenneth Reist and wife Rhoda of Lebanon; three sisters, Doris Shyda of Lebanon, Martha Hershey and husband Mark of Lititz, PA, and Beverly Wenger and husband Lee of Annville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Timothy Reist.
Friends may call at the Rometown Community Church 44364 Harrison Road Spartansburg, PA on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Further visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10 to 11 AM at the church at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Samuel Heagy, brother of Lynwood, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
