Obituary of Grace Evelyn Kingsley

G. Evelyn Kingsley, 97, formerly of Titusville, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at The Caring Place in Franklin. She was born on June 22, 1913 in Pleasantville, a daughter of the late Carl and Welthea Billig Holtz. She was married to her loving husband William D. Kingsley on July 27, 1937 at Pleasantville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1986. Evelyn entered the Edinboro Normal School at the age of 16 and two years later began a teaching career that spanned four children and 27 years. She took a respite from teaching to raise her children, but in 1954 returned to her first love, teaching. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving mother, stern taskmaster, and caring mentor to all who loved and interacted with her. She left her mark on the world and it lives on in the imprint she and grandpa Bill created. Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Carol Kingsley of Drums, PA; three sons, William Kingsley and wife Charlotte of Seneca, Robert Kingsley and wife Patricia of Bloomington, IND, and Rev. David Kingsley and wife Mary of Goshen, NY; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; and a sister, Jean Beason and husband Thomas of Titusville. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Holtz and Marguerite Shaw. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Titusville First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery in Townville, PA. The family asks that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church 216 N.
