Obituary of Harold O. Shoemaker

          Mr. Harold Oscar Shoemaker, 87, of Britton Run Rd., Centerville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2017.

          Mr. Shoemaker was born on April 10, 1930, in Titusville to the late Daniel and Opal Genevieve (Hollabaugh) Shoemaker. He was raised in Guys Mills, Townville and Centerville area. He married Marie J. Young of Erie on October 28, 1950.

          Harold worked for Joseph McCormick Construction Company for 28 years and with several other construction companies. He was a member of the Local Union 66 for 65 years. He most recently had been hauling wood for families.

          He loved to rebuild Farmall tractors and had 14 he restored. He also restored antique cars the most recent being a 1931 Ford truck for his daughter Diane. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Titusville.

          Harold is survived by his wife, Marie Shoemaker of Centerville; 3 children, Diane (Rev. Terry) Bidwell of Titusville, Jerry Shoemaker and Jane Shoemaker; 3 grandchildren, Teresa (Greg) Butterfuss, Tammy (Spencer) Steffy, Timothy Harold Bidwell all of Titusville; 7 great grandchildren, Shannon, Bonnette, Shane, Brenden, Simon, Sidney Steffy and Carrie Butterfuss; several nieces and nephews including Ralph Aldrich and Joan Galeski.  

          He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Anthony, a grandson, Brian Steffy, a great grandson, Angel Steffy, and several sisters-in-law.

          Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354 on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Additional visitation will be on Friday from 10 to 11 AM with the service to follow conducted by his son-in-law, Rev. Terry Bidwell pastor of the First Assembly of God in Titusville, and brother-in-law, Rev. Raymond Young of Kileen, TX, officiating.

          Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.
