Condolences
Dear Mabel, I'm so sorry to find this out. I didn't know! Austin said he saw something from Ian's Facebook or something about him missing him. I want you to know that Pastor Jerry is the only reason I'm living a Christian life. I have no doubt that I would have walked away if it were not for him coming to see me in the hospital. Austin also wanted me to tell you that he was his favorite pastor! He will always hold a special place in my heart because he cared about me enough to "plant a seed". I told him, "I'm not coming back to church!" And he said, "I didn't say you had to come to church, I'm just here to pray for you." He said the hard things to Billy and I when we both weren't living like we should. He brought us food. He was so good to us! He will be incredibly missed. I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved him and I love you.
May God's comfort and hope be yours as you continue to lean on the everlasting arms.
Pastor Gerry was a wonderful man who did more for my family than I think he could ever realize. Thank you for everything. Rest In Peace.
Jim and I were surprised and saddened to hear Pastor Jerry had left this earth. But we're glad we got to go to Steve's to see him and Mabel a while back. I wish we could have attended & been a part of the visitation and/or funeral. So since we couldn't I thought I'd write a few of my memories of Jerry.
We were very happy when he and the family came to Fishertown. He was a really good pastor and we learned A LOT from him. But beyond that, we valued his friendship, as well as the whole family's. The only drawback to being friends with your pastor is you never knew when your name would come up from the pulpit. I'm sure, you as his family, know what I mean.
I have many fond memories, such as him and Mabel inviting us for supper so he could do deer steak on the grill to PROVE to me his special marinade kept it from drying out. And he was right. It was very good. Also lots of laughs snow skiing and even water skiing 1 x when we took the youth group. We drug him around Raystown quite a while with him SO close to getting up, but Vic's boat didn't have quite enough "umph" to get him up out of the water. We were blessed to have him and all of you as part of our lives during yrs. @ Fishertown. Love you all! No getting around the hurt of the lose, but HE is rejoicing in heaven. Thank God for promise & the hope of heaven!!!
Gerry's wife and family have my deepest sympathy. I served at Bethel and White Oak when Gerry was at Diamond. We also were companions in ministry to fishing camps at Wesley Woods. May God bless you with comfort.
Dear Aunt Mable and family, My wife Belinda and I heard today of Uncle Jerry’s death and we wanted to express our sympathy and sadness. May the Lord give you all peace and comfort during this difficult time. God bless you all.
Respectively, Bill, Belinda and our family
Only fond memories of your father. What a wonderful pastor and Christian man. Remember all his work at the Bethel Park Camp. Keeping you in my prayers! With Sympathy!!
Oh, when I turned to the page of the funeral home and saw that smile that just lite up the room, I just had to get a big smile on my face. Jerry, was such an incredible Christian man. A man who loved the Lord with all of his heart and wanted to serve Him to his best ability. I will never forget when he brought his family to Bethel Park for the first time. I was charge of showing Little Jerry around there. My relationship with Pastor Jerry just grew and grew over the years. He had me sing at his churches as much as possible. I do believe he was my biggest fan. He will definitely be missed by all that knew him. His kindness and love will never be forgotten. May the God that he knew and loved be the constant comfort to you during the weeks, months, and years ahead. And may the memories that you all shared as a family just overwhelm you with peace and love. With Deepest Sympathy!!
Our prayers are with your family, Jerry will be deeply missed, we share alot of wonderful memories of him. He was a wonderful minister and a good friend. With deepest sympathy, Rex and Sis Baker and also Celia Kolacek.
Dear Mable, kids, and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Jerry. As a pastor, he taught me so much and was instrumental in forming my foundation of faith. As a friend, I have such great memories of all of you at Mom and Dad's or crammed into the little parsonage at New Millport with all the kids running around. I think I still have my "Round TUIT" tucked away somewhere. Four Sunday morning services, a Sunday evening service, and a Wednesday evening service was a lot to juggle, but he did it with a smile. It was no small feat for you, either, Mable! As a teenager I didn't think too much of it, but now that I'm older I see how difficult being a pastor's wife (or kid) is. Imagine Jerry's face when he got to meet Jesus! He certainly has many jewels in his crown from his work and a life well lived.
Love to all of you,
Teresa Condon Stodart
