Obituary of Shirley D. Dalton
Mrs. Shirley D. Dalton, 91, formerly of Titusville died at 7:20 pm on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Oil City Presbyterian Home.
Mrs. Dalton was born on February 12, 1920, at Oil City to the late Harry and Theresa Mealy Disert. She married Willis J. Dalton on March 4, 1938 in Oil City. Mr. Dalton preceded her in death on July 19, 1991.
She was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1938.
Mrs. Dalton was formerly employed in the personnel dept. at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. from 1966 until her retirement in 1982.
She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Titusville and most recently a member of the First Church of God in Oil City. She belonged to the Acacia Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star, Titusville Garden Club, and Titusville Business and Professional Women.
Mrs. Dalton enjoyed golfing and gardening and loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Rev. Marsha Mitchell and her husband Barry of Oil City, Thomas J. Dalton and wife Barbara of Ridgefield, NJ; a daughter-in-law: Marilyn Dalton of Mystic CT; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dalton; two brothers, Carl Shelburg and Robert Disert; and two sisters, June Disert and Virginia Schafer.
No calling hours will be observed.
A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends from the First Church of God in Oil City today at 7:00 pm. Family will be receiving friends at 6:00 pm. Rev. Marsha Mitchell, Mrs. Dalton’s daughter and Rev. Jayne French, co-officiating.
Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Seneca.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oil City Presbyterian Home 10 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City, PA 16301; or to the charity of one’s choice.
