She was born in Titusville on June 2, 1949 to Pauline Dean Ongley and the late Alfred Ongley.

Kathy graduated from Youngsville High School, class of 1967. She married James Slocum on March 8, 1969 at the Excelsior Church in Grand Valley.

Kathy is survived by three children: David Slocum and wife Audrey, Kevin Slocum and wife Jill, and Cheryl Sandberg and husband Steve; seven grandchildren, Emma and Evan Slocum, Carter, Cooper and Kate Slocum, and Andrew and Matthew Sandberg; six siblings, Sandi Kemp and husband Rick of Grand Valley, Sue Ongley, Judy Paulich and husband John of Pleasantville, Alan Ongley and wife Jacie of Pittsfield, Gayle Beers and husband Randy of Titusville, and Jim Ongley and wife Judi of Pleasantville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy had a zest for life, for music, for flowers, for older people and for youth. She was a caring and compassionate person and provided wonderful care for those in need for many years. She richly enjoyed gardening and found it relaxing working in her flower gardens. In previous years, she was actively involved with various youth programs at her church and with Girl Scouts. She put the needs of others first and always willingly gave a helping hand to those in need. She always saw the best in people and tried to enrich their lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She owned Slocum’s Store in Spartansburg and Compassionate Home Care in Corry.
